In a medium-sized glass bowl, break the dark chocolate into small pieces.
Fill a small saucepan with a little water and bring it to a boil. Place the bowl with the dark chocolate on top of the saucepan and make sure that the bowl doesn't touch the water.
Keep stirring the chocolate until it is fully melted. Now, add in the sugar, orange zest and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved (you could also do this in the microwave instead). You can use regular brown sugar without pulverising it but it will take longer to dissolve.
Fill the melted chocolate mixture into a square, silicone ice cube tray. It will make about 8 sticks of approximately 20g each and let cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
Once the chocolate has cooled down a bit insert the wooden lollipop sticks and let them cool down for another 30 minutes. Now, transfer the mould to the refrigerator for about 2 hours.
Carefully remove the chocolates from the moulds and place them into little clear plastic bags and tie them up with a beautiful ribbon. They make gorgeous little gifts. Of course, you can also just enjoy them yourself. Whenever you fancy a hot chocolate, heat up some milk or plant-based milk and simply stir in one of your hot chocolate sticks. Enjoy.
Notes
You could also decorate the hot chocolate sticks by sprinkling a bit orange zest and sugar on top.
